Using the 2014 Scottish referendum to separate from the UK as a touchstone, this book examines the fluidity of identity and tensions regarding languages and belonging in a modern, global world where peoples, ideas and cultures migrate and interact on a scale never before seen in human history. Drawing on the flux of the 180 years presence of the Indo-Caribbean community, twice shipwrecked from India, these poems continue an ongoing improvisation on forms utilizing remembered ancestral rhythms, taals, taans and raagic modes. The title of the book is from a tribute to the late sitar maestro, Pandit Ravi Shankar.
