In general, we ask that review copies be sent directly to reviewers, therefore please contact the editor before arranging the sending of books for review.
Reviews are usually limited to books that are related or relevant to Asia in an identifiable way. Physical copies are usually (if not always) required. We of course cannot guarantee that every book received will be reviewed and regret that books cannot be returned.
Notes to authors:
Review requests should in general be passed via the publisher.
Most of our reviewers are themselves published authors. We receive many more requests from authors for reviews than requests to review. So, by offering to review, you increase the probability of reviews for all authors.
Notes to publicists, independent PR agencies, etc.:
Please ensure your pitches are as relevant as possible to the Asian Review of Books. If we have reviewed the author before before, it would be helpful to mention it (it would mean among other things that you are familiar with the publication). Also, since we are based in Asia, Western issues or touchstones, such as “AAPI month”, are not part of our consideration.
