
Shanghai in the year 2000 was a cauldron of opportunity and danger. China Running Dog is a gripping story that brings the peak days of “China Fever” vividly to life. Author Mark Kitto drew heavily on personal experience to write this novel; he lived in China for eighteen years, during which time he built up an English-language magazine business. When this was taken over by the Chinese authorities, he started a new life in an old mountain hill station—the subject of his memoir China Cuckoo.
